Medellin is a second class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 50,047 people.The municipality of Medellin is one of the nine municipalities comprising the 4th Congressional District of Cebu Province. It is approximately 120 kilometres (75 mi) north from Cebu City via Barangay Curva and 113 kilometres (70 mi) via barangay Luy-a. The town is bounded on the north by the municipality of DaanBantayan; on the south by the municipality of San Remigio and city of Bogo; on the east by the Camotes Sea and on the west by the Tañon Strait.The municipality is geographically situated between coordinates 123° 52” and 123° 59” latitudes and 11° 12” and 11° 10” longitudes.Based on cadatral survey, the municipality of Medellin has a total land area of 7,382.33 hectares covering 19 barangays

FISHING
The primary livelihood in the island is fishing. Guests may buy fishes directly to the fisherman in low price and may also just ask for a little. The island is abundant in small fishes like bolinao, and tuloy (sardines fish) and big fishes like tulingan and mackerel.

They use their "pumpboats" in driving tourist to funtastic island and they earn extra income with this. Boat rates from P500 t0 P1000 depending on the number of the person.Through this, they earned extra income .
SUGARCANE FARMING
Farming is one of the livelihood in Medellin. Sugar cane is the most abundant in this municipality. It covers about 75% of the total land area of Medellin. In fact, the municipality has a sugar milling company. People from the mainland living in the mountain area usually do the farming.
